This reminds me that when I was in high school (many years ago), a
very fine french horn player developed a
problem with inner ear infections. I believe he had to stop playing
for some time until they cleared up. Fortunately, he was also a very
fine percusionist so he moved to that section until he recovered.

I would think that any wind instrument player could also have this
problem.
