Dan,
I played it in the 1992 Clarifest with the Cincinatti Pops (me and 100 other
clarinets, but I got to play the "high" C at the end). Hows that for exposure
to the piece. I also played it at Busch Gardens, WIllamsburg, Va. in 1982 in
the Fest Hause Show 8 times a day all summer.
Hey, it ain't klezmer, but it was fun!

Subject: The clarinet polka forever!

Does anyone ever play the "clarinet polka" any more? Since I'm from
Milwaukee, Wisconsin and of Polish heritage, this is a subject of great
importance to me. Are young clarinetist going through their playing
careers not knowing this important piece of clarinet literature? I grew up
watching the polka hour - direct from Pulaski, Wisconsin on tv sunday
mornings - right before all star wrestling. Isn't the "clarinet polka"
right next to the Brahms Sonatas and the Mozart Concerto? I propose that
this should be a required piece on all freshman juries! We must keep this
trandition alive.
