The only note I would like to make about this recording is that it does NOT
include the dance that often is played along with the Polovetsian Dances. I
think it is called "Dance of the Polovetsian Maidens" and it is always played
first when it appears. I mention this because it contains a lot of difficult
6/8 clarinet solos that I imagine Juliane will need to know. The set recorded
on by Szell begins with the slow dance.

As for whether the Szell is on CD, I simply don't know.

Recordings that include the first dance include the Shaw/Atlanta on Telarc
(also includes the choral parts). I think that there is a Baltimore/Zinman
one on Telarc also, which would be played by the outstanding Steve Barta.
