I think the answer to this is yes. Of course, saxophone players do
(and there are circa $500 sax mouthpieces out there).

I gather from
a pro trumpet player that I know that they do too. They also spend
much more time trying out various types of trumpets than typical
clarinetists. He told me that for a while very light, thin trumpets
were popular (you could about dent them with a mute). More recently
very heavy instruments have been in.
