Christopher,
I have been using the Reunion Blues (Also marketed by Leblanc with
their own label on it) gig bag since it was introduced about 15 years
ago. I hane never had my instruments crushed. It is a very padded bag and
protects wonderfully from the cold. I feel I have a built-in fleece-lined
cover (without the fleece). I HAVE had the occasional side b-flat/e-flat
key bend once or twice because it is the one which sticks out and if I
drop the case, it could bend. However it is also the one which is easiest
to fix by just bending it back! No other keys have been bent. Also, I
never have to worry about the instrument sloshing around in a hard case.
Then there's the convenience factor. Not only is it light but it
is fabulous for a city dweller because it doesn't LOOK like an instrument
so I am not an automatic target for thieves. And I can get an amazing
amount of music, accessories (including a music stand!) and sundries
(like my lunch!) in there. My only problem is their zippers. They use
these cheap plastic ones which really can't take all the weight. However,
a visit to the shoe repair person and that was all fixed. I strongly
recommend it. JUST DON"T SIT ON IT!
