My favorite Hite book is:

Forty Progressive Melodies (With Accompaniment of a Second Clarinet) by
Barret.

The oboe players are too busy scraping reeds to notice that we've
borrowed them!

I use them for intonation training with more advanced students, for sight
reading, and the younger students have to practice them, but have nice
tunes and semi-interesting harmonies to listen to if they do well.
