Useful sources:

1. "The Clarinet and Clarinet Playing" by David Pino, Charles Scribner
and Sons, 1980. Chapter 2, from page 9 to page 22, is on mouthpieces
and ligatures.

2. The catalog of The Woodwind and the Brasswind Company has a
chart on page 44 of the current edition comparing about 40
different brands of clarinet mouthpieces. (Their address: 19880
State Line Road, South Bend, IN 46637)

These only begin to address the issues you raise.
