Suzi,

I think ligatures are quite important. I used metal ligatures when I
was a beginner. I've always disliked it, I like to tighten the screws, and
metal ligs usually kind of break my reed. It puts a "scar" on the reed. I've
used three ligs in my whole life. A vandoren metal, Rovner, and currently a
B&G Super Revealation. I find the fabric ligs to produce a fuller, darker
sound than my metal. (Rovner and B&G are fabric and inverted.) I also found
that the B&G lig enabled me to produce easier staccatos and some sort of a
more youthfull but dark sound that when compared to the other ligs sound
better. (No, I don't work for B&G.) I asked my Mom and my sisters which one
sounds better and if they hear two persons playing, one on Rovner and one on
B&G. Who would they think is a better player. The answer is (Drum Roll)
B&G! My Mom and my sisters agreed that the B&G sounds better. That's 4 votes
plus myself, that makes 5. If you live in NYC, you can go to Sam Ash and try
out the ligs, although it's some sort of a small purchase, they still let you
try it out in one of their rooms. I love Sam Ash! Best customer Service, and
no hassle returns! I use to have a T-shirt from Sam-Ash that says "Music is
My life and Sam Ash is my Music store!" my horrible friend spilled ink all
over it!(I don't work for them either.) Well, just try them all! See which
one you like. Always bring someone with you. Have them give you their
opinions. Not sure about the Bonades, I've never tried them before, but for
now B&G's the best lig I've come across!

Musically yours, (I copied this from somewhere, I like it, the Musically
yours thing.)
