The techniques for this seem to vary quite a bit, but this one works for
me: basically I let my fingers do the work until I get to about G, and
from there I relax my embouchure very very gradually at the same time as
lifting off the rest of my fingers in a sliding fashion. It's sort of
like chewing the mouthpiece with your lips - tightening them to normal
pressure as you approach the top note (so that it's in tune!) If you
happen to play the sax or a lot of jazz, it's sort of like doing a
really prolonged, vulgar vibrato.
