Due to an unexpected departure, the following graduate assistantship is open
for the 1996-97 academic year:

GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP IN BAND

POSITION Clarinet

APPOINTMENT 1996-97 Academic Year

STIPEND Out of State Tuition Waiver and up to $7000

QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in music and admission to the Graduate
School.

INFORMATION Graduate Study at UW-Milwaukee provides students the
opportunities to participate in one of the nation's finest
music departments. The Music Department has an enrollment
of 400, 25 to 40 of which are graduate students in
performance, music education, composition, music theory,
and conducting. The cultural environment in the city of
Milwaukee can provide students with additional playing
experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES May include teaching fundamental instrument classes,
private non-major instruction, chamber music, and sectional
coaching with the UW-Youth Wind Ensemble program. Performing
in the University Wind Ensemble/University Symphony Orchestra
may also be a requirement.

APPLICATION Three letters of recommendation addressing candidates'
qualifications.
