This is especially addressed to the teachers out there:
I've never had formal training in music theory and would like to start
my education in this area. I can "play" piano (at neophyte level ;^),
know intervals, chord formations, inversions, and other things that
are relatively easy to understand, some modes (since I'm a fan of
Satie's music and he changes modes constantly - I was interested enough
to learn why the music sounded the way it did), and other odds and
ends.
If I went to night school I'd never see my family again - so - are
there any texts which you would recommend for a beginner? I'll do
all my homework - really I will ;^)
