One of the most useful posts I ever received on KLARINET was the
following, from Robert Winston. Robert, if you're still reading this
list, thanks for the easy to understand quick course. Hope the rest of
you aren't too bored by the following.

You can either keyword search the archives or download a week's
worth of Klarinet at a time.

The archives are stored in weekly "logs". A new log starts on
the first day of the month and has a name in the form LOGyymmx.

The first log for this year is LOG9501a The second log for
January is LOG9501b The first log for February is LOG9502a

To retrieve a log - let's say you want the current log which
started Feb. 1 - send mail to:

LISTSERV%vccscent.bitnet@-----.edu ^^^^^^^^ with the message:

GET KLARINET LOG9502A

For a list of all logs, send the Listserv the message:

INDEX KLARINET

** Searching the Klarinet Archives **

The quick and easy way to search the archives is to replace
"KEYWORD" in the form below and send it to the Listserv

//
DATABASE SEARCH DD=RULES
//RULES DD *
SEARCH keyword IN KLARINET
INDEX
PRINT ALL OF
/*

This could, however, return a very large file.

To get a list of all messages that match your keyword(s), drop
the "PRINT ALL OF" line. So your search would look like:

//
DATABASE SEARCH DD=RULES
//RULES DD *
SEARCH keyword IN KLARINET
INDEX
/*

You will receive a list of matching messages with subjects.

I just did a search on "Leeson and playboy" and received this:

004354 94/12/07 15:59 35 See this month's PLAYBOY
004358 94/12/08 01:57 15 Re: See this month's PLAYBOY
004361 94/12/08 08:42 16 Re: See this month's PLAYBOY
004368 94/12/08 13:56 33 I'm a putz! There is little doubt about it!!!
004369 94/12/08 14:13 21 Re Bob Winston's comments on PLAYBOY
004892 95/01/13 09:03 25 Playboy and the low C bass clarinet

To get all of those messages, just send back the _SAME_ search
but add the line "PRINT ALL OF" just like in the first example
above.

To retrieve only some of the messages, send back the _SAME_
search but change "PRINT ALL OF" to "PRINT xxx" where "xxx"
equals the message's numbers or ranges separated by a comma.

For example:

//
DATABASE SEARCH DD=RULES
//RULES DD *
SEARCH Leeson and playboy IN KLARINET
INDEX
PRINT 004354-004358,004368,004892
/*
