I have found this informal string regarding reed/mouthpiece compatibility
very helpful because I have (very) recently acquired a new Pyne Jx
mouthpiece. My Pyne mouthpiece has a slightly shorter window (than the
approx. 31.75 mm window I'm used to). I'm still getting to know the
mouthpiece and trying to zero in on the ideal reed or ideal cut/scrape job
for it. The mouthpiece has a fantastic sound. My challenge is shaping a reed
in order to get that sound consistently. So, any other Pyne mouthpiece
players
care to contribute their experiences? By the way, I think the mouthpiece
is well worth the extra effort. -----Bill Fogle.
