Shylene,
Some mouthpieces favor different kinds of reeds. When I worked in
Russianoff Winds (before it closed down), it was well known that Vandoren
mouthpieces didn't like Vandoren reeds! They usually played much better
with Olivieri's (and had less chirps). I'm guessing that Pines don't like
the longer scrape of the V-12. They always seemed to work real well with
regular Vandorens. I myself tried to play Olivieri's on my Kanter and
couldn't stop chirping. That stopped when I switched to Vandoren's. Then
I found that V-12's work better for me. I have queried others and have
found that the above facts are pretty consistent.
I have a friend who refaces mouthpieces and since he likes Black
Masters, all his mouthpieces seem to be faced to work with short-vamped
reeds. If I want to use one of them I have to go back to regular VD's.
Try a different reed. Maybe Glotin will work for you. Or Zonda...
