I've yet to find anybody who thinks that a C* bass clar. m/p is so hot.
I use a Vandoren B40, and have gotten a number of fellow players hip
to the sound and blowing characteristics of that piece. The B40 blows
fairly easily, and I find that I can get a nice warm velvety sound in
the low register, while still producing a focused sound in the upper
register. It may not be a Bay, but it's also easily replaceable if
anything ever happens.
