Thanx for all the advice. I think I'm stuck with double lip on the bass
now, though - I'm totally used to it. It's interesting that so many
people seem to think single-lip is inherently better in some way.
Applying more of the weight of my head wouldn't work, as the crook
doesn't reliably enough to take the weight, and I have to pull it out
normally anyway, as the throat notes are inherently severely sharp.
My comment about an instrument feeling as if it was falling out after
lengthy playing only applied to the soprano instruments.
I saw a Seiko tuner only last Saturday which seems to be the one
recommended. I've no idea how much it costs here.
