Yes; it's not my own instrument, though, and it definitely has a
rather substantial piece of something resilient (whose precise
provenance I don't know) between my teeth and the mouthpiece proper.

The owner of the said bass also has a spiffing tuner. You can play at
it and it lights up a light to say which note of the scale it thinks
you're playing, and there's a meter and a `balancing pair' of lights
that show you how near (or far) you are from the proper pitch.

Dead useful if someone's denying they're out of tune (not common) or
if someone is *very* slightly out and we can't make up our minds
who...
