Subj: Complete clarinet music of Reger by Leister
Date: Mon, 8 Jul 1996 14:35:57 -0400

I just purchased the 2-CD set of the complete clarinet work
of Reger by Carl Leister. I was shopping for some of the
things Mark Hattner mentioned in his list of Marcellus and
Wright recordings last week (I did find a recording of Wright
playing the Brahms sonatas and the Schumann Fantasy with
Peter Serkin). Anyway, I'd like to hear from anybody
about Reger (or Leister, or both). Haven't listened to much
but the third sonata yet. In a history of woodwind instruments
(sorry, no biblio data!) the author talks about Leister soaring over
the Berlin orch. because of that german set-up. While I know
most of what I purchased is chamber, still (as a French instrument
player) I haven't heard any soaring. ---Bill Fogle.
