This is a genuine thank you to all of my friends who were so kind
as to post their good wishes to me during my recent illness.
Having a heart attack is no fun, but I look at it as a positive
step. Nature has given me a warning and I intend to heed it.

I would like to be able to credit the tender ministrations of the
doctors and the hospital staff as the primary motivation for
leading me back to the road of health. But it didn't happen that
way. Each evening my wife came in with the day's clarinet
messages. I wasn't flat on my back for one day when all of a
sudden messages appeared talking about "Leeson is all blown out!!"
I have to suffer insults like this and screamed from my hospital
bed, "I am not blown out. My clarinet is not blown out. There is
no such thing as blow out and you are all full of hooey!" That
resulted in a three hour relapse and no cookies for dessert.

The next night there were messages about my having a dark sound.
They had to put restraints on my because I attempted to log on to
KLARINET through a blood pressure machine at my bedside. And I
damn near made it through, but BITNET stopped me cold.

Finally, there were ruminations about having a lovely French sound,
and to hell with the C clarinet, and only a sex pervert would like
the basset horn.

Well I'm back and I will tear out the throat of anyone voicing such
medieval notions. I see the latest topic is tonguing in Mozart and
when I get some strength back, I'll post on that. Just try and
stop me with something as irrelevant to clarinet loving as a
myocardial infarction!!

Flat on my backside, but far from out of it!!!
