At the risk of commercializing this list, I would like to address the topic
of clarinet and guitar music. I am the clarinetist in "The Lightwood Duo",
a professional touring clarinet/guitar duo, which includes in its
repertoire classical, latin jazz, jazz, and many other styles (even
Bluegrass!) - We have spent lots of time searching repertoire and solving
the inherent balance problems. As far as repertoire goes, we have ended up
doing all of our own arrangements. There is very little out there
commercially for this combination, and most doesn't work. Anyway, we have
just released a CD recording representative of our varied repertoire, and
if anyone is interested in getting ahold of a copy, you can Email me
directly for ordering info. The combination is very satisfying, in many
ways moreso than working with piano, because the guitar is so gentle, and
the nuances so subtle. Intonation also seems to be truer, or more pure
than w/ a piano [is this possible, or my imagination?] I would be happy to
share arrangements with interested clarinetists [we have a killer
transcription of Bartok's Roumainian Folk Dances]. I would also be happy
to discuss our approaches to balance, style, jazz arrangements, etc etc.
