Light tho they are, I am quite partial to the Pocket Size Sonatas
by Alec Templeton. If you consider Simeon Bellison American (he did
emigrate here) his Hebrew Music Suite is great. Oh, there is now an
arrangement of the Copland Sonata (originally for violin?) for clarinet
which was supposedly done by (or at least supervised by) the composer.
What about Muczynski's "Time Pieces"? They are certainly top-quality
pieces. Just a few suggestions...
You really ought to avail yourself of a
couple of catalogues of clarinet music such as "the Music Register". It
lists loads of things and if the publisher is American, there is usually
a 50/50 chance the composer is too. Then all you have to do is go to
Baker's or Who's Who and see if it is true.
