In Greenwich Village, very close to Washington Square Park, is The Blue Note.
G.V. is definitely one of the more civilized areas of Manhattan, and you
should be able to find the club just by walking around a little bit. I'm
sure one of the locals could direct you more specifically. Just be wary
of the guys walking past you muttering something about "Buds, buds..." ;)
And if you get a chance, a midday drug raid on the park by Manhattan
police is something not to be missed.
