Subject: Re: Your publications

Some time ago I posted a transcript of an article about John Sloboda's
work on the psychology of music. I did receive one reply requesting more
information about this study but what I posted was most of the article.
Eventually I decided to do a web search (using Alta Vista) to find Prof
Sloboda and he appeared on the first page. I emailed him and he kindly
replied with this information. I will send away for a copy of his paper
and report further. In the mean time I will resend that original article
in case some of you missed it. Should I ask him if he would join this
list and comment further ???

The talk on radio was about emotions and music. A transcript of this can
be obtained at http://www.abc.net.au/rn Go to the health report
transcript section and you will see it about 3 weeks ago.

I hope all this is relevant and of interest.

I am currently on sabbatical in Finland, and haven't seen the New Scientist
Article. so don't precisely know what they wrote.

However, the recent work with predictors of achivement is published in
British Journal of Psychology, current issue (May 1996). You will find a
summary of the whole project in my article in Delige, I. and Sloboda, J. A.
(eds) Musical Beginnings: the origins and development of musical competence.
Oxford University Press, 1996. We also have recent articles on the journal
Psycholoogy of Music (October 1995 issue), and an upcoming one (in press) in
British Journal of Developmental Psychology.

John Sloboda.
