Absolutely - especially the register mechanism itself, if it's an automatic
double register vent system (has two vents but a single key - the mechanism
automatically shifts when you get to A above the staff). Before you start
trying to make adjustments to your playing approach, you should make sure
there isn't a mechanical explanation for the trouble - you can develop more
technical problems than you can imagine trying (albeit unknowingly) to
compensate for a misadjusted horn.
