Well, Fred likes it, but I don't much care for Stoltzman's recording. Too much
vibrato made the second movement-which is so beautifully clarinet to me- sound
like a soprano sax... ugh! But then again, it IS a matter of opinion. I will
vbe on the lookout for another recording. I played the Bagatelles for my jury
exam this past spring. Spent about 9 weeks concentrating on the fifth movement:
a challenge I didn't think I could meet and one my professor wanted me to try
very badly. I was pleasantly surprised and he was too with the results. Guess
he knew all along that I could do it, but wanted me to prove it to myself. What
a piece! I love the Finzi Five.
