I am posting this on behalf of my friend ARNOLD SASLOWSKY, former
clarinettist with the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C. Arnold collects
and sells antique furniture (his love of the past may explain why he's not
on line yet), and he attends many auctions. He has assembled quite a
collection of old clarinets (including a Buffet with a long top joint but no
barrel!) and mouthpieces.

He asks:

Does anyone have any knowledge of a mouthpiece maker named

"E.E. DEMELY, BALTO. MD"

Arnold has a blue-green crystal Demely mouthpiece (tip #85) which he loves.
He figures it to be at least 70 years old. Any insights into its history?

Arnold also asks about a mouthpiece named EDMUND CHEDVILLE (not the more
famous ones, whose names I don't know: after all, I play a David Hite!)
Any notes on this apparent member of the Chedville clan? Any notes on the
more famous ones?

I will forward respones to Arnold. (If he buys a computer, it will probably
be an antique!)
