If you are looking for achival quality paper & don't want 500 sheets (ie
from office supply stores)or to spend a fortune, go to your local art supply
store & buy sheets of ARCHES 90 lb coldpress (acidfree) watercolour paper or
similar paper. The sheets are 24"wide by 18" high and cost $5.40 Canadian
dollars. Our art store has a papercutter & they will cut the paper any size
you want so you can get four sheets each 9"by 12".
Most sheet music is a touch larger than the standard paper size of 8 1/2 "
by 11" so as long as you have a photocopier that will take larger sheets
(ours does up to 11" x17" at the office) you can photocopy the music without
having to monkey with the scaling of the page size.
This paper is light enough to go through the photocopier (heavier than 90
lbs jams the copier tho!) and heavy enough to stand up nicely on a music
stand & not flop over. Looks nice too!
One warning though...don't spill your coffee or pop on it or take it out in
the pouring rain...watercolour paper has something called size in it & will
buckle if it gets very wet. Should this happen god forbid.. & I am being
serious here...merely take the whole thing pour a bathtub full of what &
drop the whole thing in for about three or four minutes. Remove & lay
pages flat on a smooth surface & leave to dry for several hours. This will
remove the size & the pages will be flat once again!
In the interest of the copyright issue...photocopies for personal use...I
usually put "Allisons copy!" in an upper corner so that there is no
question... and then I mark away!
