Response to the speculation by Gary Van Cott. I recently had a 1 year old
Buffet R13 in my shop, which had a crack that needed pinning. When I
inspected the bore, I was rather surprised to see how roughly it had been
finished. You could see where one bore cut had ended and another began, and
it had very little polishing. I assume you are thinking that some of the
mail order instruments are factory seconds... makes me wonder, too.
