I had a similar experience with my register tube. My left-hand high A-B-C
notes had the same harmonic overtones, especially when starting and playing
quietly. My local repairman took about 1.5mm from the tube (which, by his
account, was abnormally long), and the problem has improved greatly.
Intonation has not suffered.
