Hello all,

I'm trialing a Vandoren 5RV mouthpiece right now and I like it a lot.
The only complaint I have is that it's hard to get a clear tone when
playing very softly. I've tried using a metal ligature...it helped a
little. I found that my old Mitchell Lurie mouthpiece could get a
clearer tone when soft, but got out of control when playing loud.

My question is: What is the difference between the 5RV and the 5RV Lyre
model? Will the Lyre model likely help my soft tone clarity?
Also...does anyone know anything about the Vandoren M13?

I know you all are thinking, "it's your face, not the mouthpiece" or
"it's not the mouthpiece, it's how you play it." But I'd appreciate it
if anyone that has successfully tried these mouthpieces could give me
some advice. Please mail directly to gonzo@-----.edu because I
don't subscribe to the list.

Thanks,
Nate
