In another view, which, as I recall, was contained in a book
written by the bandmaster of a mid-west university band, clarinetists were
not treated so kindly as in NPR's "Update" on Britten's "Young person's
Guide....."

That author claimed in his put-down that it was because clarinetists
were so dumb that clarinet manufacturers started engraving on the inside
of the clarinet bells the inscription, "Blow in other end!"
