I'm offering my vote for silver plating. I am one of those whose
hands "eat" nickel. when I had my nickel-plated R-13 overhauled
several years ago several keys were pitted and I opted to have my
repairlady send the keywork (including the posts) to Anderson. I
have been playing on it for six years since and it's holding up well.
My Leblanc bass clarinet also suffers from pitted plateaux. At some
point it will be redone in silver.
