"Centre joint tuning" also tends to disturb the proper functioning of the
bridge key - especially if the cork is at all worn; the joint then wobbles,
causing all sorts of intermittent squeaks, bad intonation, and failure to hit
the L.H. little finger side properly keys now and again, owing to the hand
position
being disturbed.
Of course, if you have a baroque or classical type instrument, you will not
have quite the same difficulties.
