The analogy to "telephone-line theory" is mentioned in Benade's
nontechnical book on musical acoustics,"Horns, Strings, and
Harmony". This little work is extremely well-written
and a pleasure to read. My copy was published by Anchor Books
as part of their Science Study Series. It would be a shame if
it is no longer available.
