Maybe I'm being remarkably naive here, but is the instrument not playable?
Could you not simply use a different neck and play a written C (regardless
of register), comparing that pitch to an A or Bb on a piano (or even to
another clarinet playing written C)? This doesn't seem like such a difficult
problem.
