I agree with David Niethamer about the appropriateness of the Rabaud
Solo de Concours. Way back when, when I was in NJ All-State auditions,
that was the required solo one year. I clearly remember working on the
piece - methodically and imaginatively. It is not as technically
demanding perhaps as Weber, but it does call for a level of
sophistication - but after all, why not?

Every so often I go back and read through it - bringing back good
memories as well as reacquainting with a fine example of the French
school. (The Messager Solo de C. was a required solo another year..the
NJ lists were not ordinary!)
