What ever happened to the use of cork for pads. All of my clarinets
are padded in cork. They are quiet and if they get sticky they can
be removed and washed. The pads on my Bb and Eb clarinets are at
least 15 years old and my A clarinet's pads are three years old. I
bought a new A clarinet a few years ago and immediately had it
repadded. The only pads that aren't cork are the four on the bottom.
I have been told that to pad them in cork would leave them making a
popping sound as they open and close. What do you say out there in
clarinet land?

P.S. Steve Fowler did my Bb anb Eb clarinets. Thanks Steve for a
job well done.
