I have these pads on both my clarinets, and I think they are great. They are
less prone to deterioration because they don't absorb water, thus they last
longer and very seldom will they leak.

Some people think that they make the tone on the clarinet brighter -- that
skin pads make for a more meaty, dark sound. I don't know about that; I love
the way my clarinets sound and am happy to have the added "protection" of
the Gore-Tex.
