My son's clarinet got chipped at the tenon that inserts into bell about
a month after he received it. It's missing a triangular piece about an
1/8" - 3/16" per side. That was three years back. There's never been
any cracking from the chip, and it's generally been an excellent
instrument. I'm not sure what your teacher means about being "saturated",
since in the process of turning the wood on a lathe many fibers are
exposed to moisture.

Anyway, if you're interested in a Selmer 10-G, silver plated keys, with
a small chip in the tenon near the bell ....
