Dan,

I worked on the Rabaud with a high school sophomore last fall. He did very
well on it and even got an honorable mention at the Air Force Band Solo
Competition in D.C. The Rabaud was the required clarinet piece so there was
no choice in the manner. He had no problem with it musically, rhythmically,
or technically. In fact, I told him about the discussion going on here and
he said that the first page cadenza was his favorite part.

I've always liked the piece and have found it be of value to "better
students".
