It's been nice to hear from two people in the past couple of days who, like
me, started playing again after 20+ years. (I've been at it for 4 years now
and just gave my first recital.) Relearning was agonizing -- don't ever
quit if you haven't -- but, as I kept reminding myself after particularly
painful phases, lot better way to deal with middle age than Valium or
a red sports car!

[In my day persona as an English professor, I can't help noting, in response
to a message that will remain nameless, that "any instrument can be coaxed
to improve it's tone" (or whatever) still has a misprint in it.]
