I recently played the Mozart concerto for Solo & Ensemble Festival (I'm in
high school), and my clarinet instructor had me play that IMPOSSIBLE part
down the octave. You might want to get a recording of Richard Stoltzman
playing the concerto. He makes a lot of really cool changes in the third
movement, such as taking that part down, and they not only sound better, but
they're easier, too. :)
