I use Midisoft Studio to pretty good effect. The music won't appear quite
right (the dynamics don't appear) and you have to do some "interesting" things
to tidy up the sound, but it's easy to enter from the mouse & easy to
transpose. About $100.00 (or less) and easy to find. Cakewalk is another
well-respected program. There are better (or more complicated) programs
available if you're composing, but I find the lesser programs do the job just
fine.
There are good discounts available for students for the more powerful programs
(whose names escape me at the moment), but since I'm not associated with
any educational institution, I don't get them.
