Pertaining to the difference of Prestige clarinets: I've had a set of RC
Prestige clarinets for about the last 6 years (got an absolute steal on
them) and the wood has been wonderful, their tone is beautiful and has
developed wonderfully over time...(am I the only one who feels so
enamored of their instrument..)but, when I have had occasion to play
other clarinets, this is what I notice - other clarinets don't seem to
have the weight in the tone quality and they don't support the same kind
of dynamic range that my clarinets seem to. So even though I don't know
all the scientific facts that support "why" there is something in the
Prestige. Louis Rossi makes wonderful clarinets out of different types
of wood, if you ever get a chance to try his clarinets out, do it. He
uses good quality wood and the instruments tend to make one go all soft..
