Since this has not been mentioned among the comments about why Prestige
Buffets may or may not be better: another difference is that the bore of
the Prestige instruments is highly polished. If you look inside one and
compare it with a regular R13 or RC with proper lighting you can
appreciate this difference. Presumably this has a favorable effect on
timbre
and/or response as well. Although this would not have any effect on tone
quality, the keywork has been of better quality on Prestige models I have
seen. According to an old Buffet brochure, their "more experienced
craftsmen" make (made?) the Prestige models...
