While they're lighting the flamethrowers, I'll be piling up the fire
extinguishers.

It may simply be snob appeal that keeps amateurs off the board. Or perhaps
there are enough talented amateurs ("unschooled but not unskilled" is how
klezmer musicians were described) to blur the line between amateur and
professional. As you point out, it just doesn't make good marketing sense to
ignore the thick part of the market -- and ICS's potential membership.
