Steve------thanks very much for the advice!!!! I'm shocked that the
product is capable of such bad effect(s) on the instrument. I'm also glad
these messages are being posted to Klarinet. Maybe other players will
read and avoid using the "pad savers". I've got a relatively brand-new
Selmer Recital with checking, possibly to to these darn pad-savers. Any
[remedial] suggestions for the Selmer? Thank you!

Yes, that's the main problem with the pad savers, in that they hold the
moisture in the bore and can cause checking. The moisture that the pad
saver holds in the bore can shorten pad life which, given the name of
the product, is what is is designed to extend.
