Which choice would I make? My first impulse is to go hear someone
whom I think I will enjoy listening to (Isn't that the idea behind
music, enjoying the listening experience?) and also I would consider
something as mundane as a favourite composition or a piece I haven't
heard before. Those would be my most important criteria.

How would choices of repertoire be influenced by target audiences such
as a group of elementary students as compared to a recital audience?

What's a good rule of thumb when you consider introducing a group of
people to serious music as opposed to challenging the ears of a more
seasoned group?
