Oh yes indeed - this work was written especially for the great Brazilian
clarinetist Antounio Stadleiro, who played a rosewood Albert system basset
clarinet in C, using a hand-carved purpleheart mouthpiece and reeds from
his own plantation north of Sao Paulo. You can read all about him in Pamela
Weston's upcoming book, "Even More Clarinet Virtuosi of the Not-Too-Distant
Past and/or Present".

The only way to come close to the composer's intentions would be to get a
rosewood Wurlitzer C clarinet and get a mouthpiece made for it in Rio de
Janeiro. I'd lend you mine, but I'm using it every weekend in the
Newfoundland Klezmer Samba Ensemble here in St. John's...
