Given all of the recent postings concerning the use of vibrato and the
on-going discussions of the use of tone quality to "cut through" in
orchestra performances, I'm curious if anyone else on the list heard Steve
Girko's perfomance of the Nielsen Concerto with the Dallas Symphony last
weekend.
Despite his frequent and obvious use of vibrato, and a tone that, to my
taste, was far too "bright," it was a tremendous performance and a great
musical experience, in my humble opinion.
